Isotechnika drug use extended

Edmonton Journal

August 3, 2007

EDMONTON / The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has added its approval of long-term use of Isotechnika's lead drug ISA247 by patients enrolled in its Phase 2b kidney transplant trial.

Health Canada said in June it had no objection to the long-term use, which means patients can remain on the drug through to commercialization and beyond after completing the 12-month trial.

"It is our belief that by having patients continue to receive ISA247 therapy we are contributing to an improved quality of life subsequent to transplantation," CEO Randall Yatscoff said Thursday.

"The long-term data received from these patients will facilitate ISA247 achieving its commercial potential."

The trial is being conducted at 38 U.S. centres and four in Canada.
