    Isotechnika Inc., of Edmonton, Alberta, said it reached the original target enrollment of 400 moderate to severe psoriasis patients for its Canadian Phase III trial of ISA247. The company plans to raise the total enrollment by another 80 patients. The trial began in December and is being conducted at 32 centers across Canada. Patients will be randomized between three doses of ISA247 and placebo.

    Ed: Isotechnika Inc. announced today that the Company has completed recruitment for its Canadian Phase III psoriasis trial for its lead immunosuppressive compound, ISA247. ISA247 is an immunosuppressant that inhibits calcineurin activity that has successfully completed a Phase II trial for psoriasis and Phase IIa trial for kidney transplantation. The present market for celcineurin inhibitors including Neoral (cyclosporine) and Prograf (tacrolimus) is estimated to be over $2 billion. ISA247 is a candidate for transplant rejection and autoimmune disorders (eg IBD, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and type I diabetes).

    Isotechnika Inc., of Edmonton, Alberta, completed recruitment for its Canadian Phase III psoriasis trial of ISA247, an immunosuppressive compound. Of the 400 patients enrolled, the company said 207 already have begun treatment.  The study's primary endpoint is a measure of the proportion of subjects who achieve a 75 percent reduction in their Psoriasis Area and Severity index score, and secondary endpoints include maintenance of stable kidney funtion and assessment of quality of life.  Isotechnika said it expects results of the trial to be available by late summer.  (See BioWorld Today, Dec. 3, 2004.)

The primary endpoint of the double-blind, placebo-controlled, 24-week trial is a 75% reduction in PASI scores. Secondary endpoints include stable kidney function and quality of life. Results are expected in the third quarter.
